Finally my time had come to leave Asia. It’s safe to say, although I was looking forward to a whole new adventure in Australasia I was sorry to be leaving. I’ve had an incredible five months, seen some incredible sights and scenery (including a motorbike down the middle aisle of a coach), eaten so much wonderful, exciting new food, and met a never-ending list of amazing, inspiring and intriguing people.

My first stop was Perth, Australia where I would be staying a couple of nights with my friend Mac (one of the people I had meet along the way). He was an excellent host, driving me around to see his local area, and some parts closer to the city. He was even able to satisfy my craving for a bowl of cereal!

Everything felt very foreign to me as we drove through the streets, being so very different from the buildings I had become accustomed to in Asia, and so much more spacious than life was in England. Most of the houses were one storey, but large enough for three or four bedrooms, and two or more bathrooms, as well as a large garden at the back.

There was a lovely calm feeling about Perth, everything seemed to move in slow motion after the bustle of Asia. The people I met were all so content and friendly. When I entered the centre of the city on my final day I noticed how little interaction there was in comparison to Asia, people going about their daily business passing blindly by. Although it drove me crazy sometimes, it almost felt a little empty without the calls from vendors all along the street!

And so it is, the beginning of the new era of my travels. Only time will tell the adventures which are sure to unfold.
